Book Review : Color and Light

“Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter” is written by James Gurney. I started this book with an intention to learn about color theory. James provides more info than just color theory. I enjoyed the most about book is the photographs of beautiful plein-air (painting done on locations) studies  he has done. He explains each subject with a plein-air study or a scene  from Dinotopia. This helps to relate to the subject very well, his painting clearly explains the phenomena. This also impressed me enough to do a few plein-air paintings in the process.

Rating: 4/5. Its a good book with many technical words and beautiful pictures of  paintings. Language is simple. Good for any novice plein-air painters.
