Book Review on “Lives of the Artists: Portraits of Ten Artists Whose Work and Lifestyles Embody the Future of Contemporary Art”

“Lives of the Artists: Portraits of Ten Artists Whose Work and Lifestyles Embody the Future of Contemporary Art” is written by Calvin Tomkins. Its a very nice and informative book on the lives of the ten contemporary artists he portrays. It inludes Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Cindy Sherman to name a few. He brings up conversation with the artist, some times a particular incidents, their latest work and their childhood and how they got into their art. Many places one feels actually that he’s moving  along with the artist.

Rating 4/5: The book keeps up with its title. Quite precise, simple language and good short biography on the artists.
