“Farewell to an Idea: Episodes from a History of Modernism” is written by T.J. Clark. The most liked aspect of the book is the depth of discussion about the paintings and the thoughts behind it. I have taken very long time to finish this book, almost a year. The reason is its complex vocabulary. One needs a dictionary beside. But I tend to forget the previous discussions when referring dictionary. Best is to forget comprehension and read through fast, at-least something could be understood in the end. I just got overall idea on the thought process behind the painting might be. There is history and philosophy takes on the paintings. The book is also loaded with lot of painting images.
Rating: 3/5. I need to read this a few more times mainly due to my inadequacy in the language comprehension. Its a good discussion, definitely worth reading again.
